San Holo teased trip in episode 1 of a YouTube series he created. Fans anxiously awaited the bright, full drop. It's the kind of song that makes you sway, and then smile. It builds up very obviously. The intro is paving the way for the EP titled with the same name. It's inviting you into a trip through sound, and there are no lyrics throughout the rest of the track list.

In trip, an invitation starts after some static wavers around both headphones.

It almost feels like an educational video for an elementary school classroom, like Ms. Frizzle is taking her kids on a ride through the solar system in her magic school bus. The vocals get chopped up as the track turns more break beat. Then right around the halfway point (at 1:37) everything takes another turn as a sort of synthetic orchestra fills the sonic landscape like its being conducted by a maestro. You can hear each flutter dance up the scale until a fanfare guides it back down into the outro.

trip is a song you can't help but smile when you listen to, because it's so lighthearted in how it develops. It's frustratingly short for how happy it makes itself.
